| Installing Java |
If you have a high-speed Internet connection,
downloading and installing the Java 1.4 run-time system requires
about 5 minutes. To install Java 1.4:

Visit Sun
Microsystem's web page for downloading Java 1.4.

At the next web page titled Download Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition..., click the link labelled Download J2SE JRE
in the middle of the page.

At the bottom of the next web
page titled Terms and conditions..., press the "ACCEPT" button
to accept Sun's license terms and conditions

At the next web page titled
Download Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment..., click the link labelled
Windows Installation, Multi-language (j2re-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe).
(or whatever the most current version of Java 1.4 is) and download the installation file
onto your PC's disk (e.g., in folder "C:\TEMP")

Using Windows Explorer, double-click on the icon for the downloaded file to
run the Java installation program
and accept all defaults.
