The TaskGuide™ software suite enables organizations to develop intelligent, electronic job aids
that provide step-by-step instructions to help users carry out complex procedural tasks quickly and accurately.
For example, TaskGuide can help people troubleshoot or operate equipment, use
software applications, analyze and interpret information, configure systems, or follow organizational procedures.
TaskGuide:
- presents each step using HTML formatted text, graphics, and other media,
- presents a graphical overview to help users
browse the procedure and maintain context,
- makes additional information easily available via hyperlink to augment each step’s instructions,
- executes branching and looping logic to determine the appropriate next step,
- accepts and stores data and decisions from the user via GUI input controls, and
- automates steps by computing data values, recommending actions, and executing commands.
Implemented in Java™ technology, TaskGuide software can run within the Java applet or application provided with the product,
and it can be embedded within
other decision support or task execution systems.
TaskGuide is extensible, so procedures can embed third party Java user interface components and Java libraries.
TaskGuide can also be used to create other dialog-based systems that interact with the user by
presenting one screen of information at a time, prompting the user for input, and then using this input to select,
construct, and present the next screen. Example applications include decision-support, interactive learning,
customer sales and technical support, adaptive questionnaires, and telephone scripting.
